Julian Smith Named to National Ski Team

in News

Caframo congratulates our local Nordic skier, Julian Smith on achieving his goal of being named to the Canadian National Ski Team. Julian has proven that passion, hard work, and perseverance pay off.

Julian now 23, grew up in Oxenden, Ontario which is just 2.4 km from Caframo. This is a distance Julian could ski in less than six minutes.  Julian started skiing at the Bruce Ski Club when he was six years old, in the Jackrabbits ski program. In 2010, Julian joined the Georgian Bay Nordic Ski Club, and quickly advanced from novice to the fastest skier in his birth year in the province. Over the past five years, Julian has won numerous medals at Nationals, been named to the 2015 Junior National Ski Team, World Juniors 2015, World U23s 2017, 2019, and raced for Canada across the globe.

As highlighted by Julian, “To be named to the Canadian National Ski Team has been a goal of mine for many years. Through that time, I have trained thousands of hours, travelled the globe and raced against the world’s very best. This is a significant step but far from the end. I will continue to strive for excellence, day in and day out, moving closer to my goals. I would like to thank Caframo for their support. My success is a product of hard work and a community that believes in me, and I am honoured that the kind people at Caframo are standing beside me.”

Caframo is proud to support Julian’s accomplishments and we will cheer him on as he gears up for the 2020 World Cup Circuit and World Cup Finals which will be held in Quebec City, QC and Canmore, AB.
